NORTHERN ADELAIDE HILLS GROWER'S COOPERATIVE
VARIETY: SYRAH (SHIRAZ)
REGION: BIRDWOOD, ADELAIDE HILLS
SOIL: ALLUVIAL QUARTZ-SHOT CLAY
A long ripening season means spicy characters when it comes to Adelaide Hills Syrah, and the vines didn’t disappoint! A rich generosity of flavour given marvellous definition through a star anise, white pepper and cardamom savoury spice that keeps any hint of overripe characters at bay. A stunning example of what the alluvial soils of the Adelaide Hills can lend to one of Australia’s more iconic grape varieties.
Method: 5 days on skins, wild ferment, matured in stainless steel
Notes on the 2017 Vintage: In stark contrast to recent vintages, the 2017 Harvest provided optimal conditions for us to craft wines that emphasis their natural acidity and vibrant texture. A long, slow ripening period characterised by cool weather, without many incidents of rain. For our style of winemaking, this vintage was ideal and we’re super excited to release these wines!
