Tasting Notes

Estate single vineyard wine grown in the chilly surrounds of Mount McKenzie in the Eden Valley, Barossa This label represents our rendition of Eden Valley, Barossa Shiraz which is the non dried portion fruit that of Frost Dodger Shiraz and is aged in ex Frost Dodger barrels

Great mild vintage for the allowing for flavours to slowly build. This 2022 release is rich and plump, expect dark cherries, plum and chocolatey. A full palate with carries through from the aromatics with velvety tannins to finish. A beautifully complex & flavoured Shiraz.

In the garage the shiraz fruit was gently destemmed including 25% whole bunch into open top milk vats and fermented warm naturally and basket pressed to barrel to complete ferment. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Expect all that this label represents; wine enjoyment!

About The Winery

Torzi Matthews, a food and winemaking partnership between Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews have passion and the firm conviction of appreciating the value of heritage tradition in the crafting of their wines and olive produce.

In 1996 we stumbled across a small, frost-pocketed hollow in the beautiful Mt McKenzie, Eden Valley and fell in love with the area for its remoteness and its diverse thin soils. The rationale was quite simple: this land would produce low yields of fruit which in turn would translate into flavoursome European style wines.

Our wines are crafted via non-interventional Italian / European techniques that employs careful hand harvesting, whole bunch natural ferments, basket pressed and the use of fine grained French oak barrels.
