South Australia's early settlers named Macaw Creek, located in the Gilbert Valley amongst the famous wine regions of the Mount Lofty Ranges, for the colourful native parrots they mistakenly thought to be Macaws. The region enjoys mainly terra rossa over limestone with some black loam over clay soils. Ideal for superior grape production, the fruit is generally dry grown from low yield vines in these rich, well drained soils.
Our Semillon Viognier displays feijoa fruit with nutmeg spice aromas. The palate is soft and well weighted with orange/mandarin peel flavours and balanced acidity with a lovely citrus finish. An unusual blend with the Viognier adding the fragrance and fruit weight and the Semillon the acid balance and citrus edge.
